Here , we take a look at four big battles in the Asia Cup 2022
1. Virat Kohli vs Wanindu Hasaranga
Batsman legend Virat Kohli is always the talk of the town. Especially when he is unwell. The 33-year-old hasn’t hit his 50 in his final six innings. Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Haslanga tries to stop Kohli with a clever variation. The RCB leg spinner has an exceptional record against right-handed hitters in the T20s. He took a whopping 86 of his 116 wickets from right-handers. Kohli has historically been a great spinner on his feet, so stopping him can be a little tricky.
However, Hasaranga succeeds in trying and Kohli always accepts it. The 33-year-old has only played six balls against his Lankan opponents in T20 cricket.
2. Babar Azam vs Rashid Khan
The number one T20I racquet, Babar Azam is the shape of his life. He scores in any format and in any conditions. The Pakistani skipper has his sights set on the Asian Cup. But skilled Afghan leg spinner Rashid Khan stands in his way. He sacked Azam in his T20 his fifth time.
Whenever the two giants met, Rashid drove Azam away. The Afghan coordinator allowed just 59 carries on 48 balls and hit Azam his fifth, averaging 11.80. The duo will meet for his second time in the Asian Cup at T20Is.
3. Hardik Pandya vs Mushfiqur Rahim
Batsman Rahim of Bangladesh needed only two runs off three balls in the 2016 T20 World Cup against Hardik Pandya. When India snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat, what followed was an absolute torment for Bangladeshi fans. Rahim’s wicket provided a climactic ending as Pandya became a hero. The duo have not met since. Rahim got his revenge in 2016 when he faced Pandya in the Asian Cup.
4. Shadab Khan vs Bhanuka Rajapaska
Sri Lankan strong hitter Bhanuka Rajapaksa specializes in leg spin bowling. He often took over his T20 cricketer and came out on top. The southpaw has a chance to beat that record against Pakistan’s leg his spinner, Shadab his Khan. The vice-captain always looks forward and likes to attack from the beginning. However, Rajapaksa only scored 45 runs in 29 balls, so he has a good record against him.
Sri Lanka will not face Pakistan in the Asian Cup group stage. However, the two teams could face each other later in the stage.
