PTI Chairman Imran Khan held an international telethon for flood victims in the country on Monday, with the former prime minister raising 500 crore rupees during the three-hour telethon, Geo News reported.

Several celebrities joined Imran Khan during the telethon. Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmoud Khan and the former Prime Minister’s Social Protection Advisor Sania Nishtar were also present at the telethon.

According to his Senator Faisal Javed Khan, who moderated the event, the former prime minister said in his three-hour flood telethon he raised more than 5 billion rupees in donations.

During a live telethon, PTI chairman Imran Khan said that flooding from continuous monsoon rains had hit the entire country. “The devastating floods are expected to kill more than 1,000 people and cause damages exceeding Rs 100 crore,” he said.

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan also took part in the telethon and announced that he would be donating his 5 million rupees to flood victims.
