Mazari says Farogh Naseem misguided Imran over Justice Isa reference

Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Shireen Mazari said Farog Naseem led the case against Judge Kazi Fayez Isa. She said PTI Chairman Imran Khan was misunderstood about the reference to Judge Isa.

Naseem, MQM-P, was the Federal Minister of Justice in the PTI government. He resigned from his position as federal minister representing the case against the Supreme Court Justice in June 2020.

The former human rights secretary said it was Naseem who did the most damage to the PTI government, and the then attorney general he accused Farogh Naseem of filing the complaint. The PTI government has been hurt by a lawsuit against Farogh Naseem Judge Faiz Isa, she said in an interview with a private news channel on Saturday.

Mazari also said it was a big mistake to endorse the name of the current Electoral Commissioner.

The PTI minister also shared her personal experience and said Naseem had filed a complaint against her with the Aabpara police station in connection with her enforced disappearance law.

It was a mistake

At a meeting with the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) in mid-April, he admitted that it was a “mistake” to issue the executive order to Judge Isa. He said the then Minister of Justice informed him about Judge Isa’s possessions and assets.

A party lawyer asked him if it was a wrong decision to file a letter of referral to the president against Judge Issa. said it was wrong.

On April 18, Naseem said Imran Khan insisted on filing a presidential case against Judge Isa. “The complaint against Judge Faez Isa was a sensitive matter and every aspect of the case was scrutinized […] I had no personal conflict with Judge Isa,” Naseem told Geo News. He said the former prime minister insisted on filing a complaint against Judge Isa based on the Asset Recovery Unit’s (ARU) findings.
