KARACHI: Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is all set for deafening response from the audience as wounded Pakistan look to take revenge from confident England in a series finale today.

The home side might be in an unprecedented situation of overcoming Phil Salt’s classic power-hitting show in the sixth T20I. Somewhere the Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s famed Salt punished Pakistani bowlers for all the bad, in fact good deliveries too.

Not a full strength Pakistan’s bowling, really struggled to stop the Salt-storm in front of a roaring Lahori crowd. Haris Rauf was given rest and Shahnawaz Dahani made his return to the playing XI.

It was probably a nervous decision as Haris needed a break and Pakistan had to test their bench ahead of mega T20 World Cup. But, England gave a bitter taste of one-sided eight-wickets defeat and jolted Babar Azam and company before they fly for tri-nation series in New Zealand and T20 World Cup 2022 later on.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Salt’s early baton charge ensured 3-3 series equaliser by the touring party who were set to chase 170 runs.

Salt’s 88 off 41 overshadowed Babar Azam’s 87 off 59 runs as the pitch looked difficult to bat in the first innings. Babar drove Pakistan to 169-6, which the skipper thought would be a good score to defend.

But, the second part of the match rewrote all the equations. Salt’s busy run at the crease might have chased down even more than 170 runs for England.

With giving rest to Mohammad Rizwan and Haris, Pakistan struggled to make a strong point. It is likely that the two key players will return in the playing XI for the series decider.

The home side will look to go with full strength whereas physiologically strong England is expected to make just a change; bringing in Mark Wood in place of Richard Gleeson.
