Mohammad Hasnain included in Pakistan squad in place of Shaheen Afridi
Lahore: Mohammad Hasnain replaces Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Pakistan national team for the T20 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates from 27 August to 11 September, the Pakistan Cricket Commission ( PCB) announced today.
Afridi has been ruled out of the tournament and England his series due to a knee injury, a serious blow to Pakistan’s chances of lifting the 2022 Asian Cup.
Hasnain, who has represented Pakistan in 18 of his T20Is and has taken 17 wickets, joins his Pakistani side from Great Britain where he will represent the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred competition.
Meanwhile, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usman Qadir leave early Tuesday morning for Dubai. They will replace Abdullah Shafiq, Imam Ulhak, Mohammad Harris, Salman Aliaga and Zahid Mehmuud who were part of his 16-man ODI squad against the Netherlands.
Pakistan will face India in their opening match in Dubai on Sunday 28 August, while their second Group A match will take place in Sharjah on Friday 2 September, with the qualifiers (UAE, Kuwait, Singapore or Hong Kong) and play against Super Four matches will take place from September 3rd to September 9th.
